Welcome to the Burning Issues Book Club, founded by @renatebakes!

This book club has been formed to help facilitate our education

on important topics facing humanity. Humans have historically been

(and continue to be) horrible to each other, to our home, and to the other organisms that share this planet with us. We know things need to change,

but many people aren’t sure where to start. This book club is a place for learning and personal growth within a safe online community to help us navigate and implement positive social change in the real world.

Our April book is Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer.  Drawing on

her life as an indigenous scientist, and as a woman, Kimmerer shows

how other living beings—asters and goldenrod, strawberries and squash, salamanders, algae, and sweetgrass—offer us gifts and lessons,

even if we've forgotten how to hear their voices.
